L I G H T (and Kevin’s MK1 GTI) by Brian Tucker

Spent a few hours out at Asilomar last night with my brother, Kevin and his MK1 GTI. It’s been a long time since I have done any night shooting and I forgot how much fun it can be. It’s hard to take things too seriously when you are doing long exposures and running around in the dark with all sorts of lights. I feel like that light hearted playful feeling comes through in these shots. I am going to start by sharing these few black and white shots. I love that they are more or less the exact same shot over and over, but the different lighting gives dramatically different effects to each one. I’ll do another post soon with some color shots. F.Y.I. they will be wild.

Phonedials by Brian Tucker

I finally got everything together to run my new wheels on my 1991 GLI. They are 15×7 Porsche phonedials wrapped in Federal 165-45-15 tires. 20mm Raceland adapters all around. I kept the front ride height where it was and dropped the rear by 1/4″. I think everything is looking good. Unfortunately the Federal tires have the sidewall strength of spaghetti and the traction of rollers skates on ice. They feel like poo but they are the only option in that size so I am going to run them for a bit. Then it will be back to the good old 1552 Snowflakes on Toyo Proxies. Anyways, here are some shots from my drive down through Big Sur last weekend.
