Yellow Bird Thread Works by Brian Tucker

It’s live! Yellow Bird has been in the works for quite some time and and now it’s ready to see the light of day. I have been building my skills with my trusty old sewing machine for a while and I have been dialing in a few designs. Go have a look. Or, even better, go buy something!

"as is tradition." Leavenworth Drive 2015 by Brian Tucker

Late each June, a very special group of dirtbags come together to drive barely reliable cars up and over some mountains to a place that pretends to be somewhere else.  And why do these dirtbags make this annual migration?  No one knows for sure.  Some say it's an opportunity for these poor souls to come together and commiserate about the frustrating designs of their foreign automobiles.  Others use this event as a opportunity to show how they have been spending Mommy and Daddy's money on chip tunez and hell-uv-bro-tintz.  Some even speculate that its just a chance to BRO DOWN!  For whatever reason, my friends and I have been participating in the annual Leavenworth Drive for a bunch of years now and we will continue to do so.  It's a chance to see and drive some cool cars in some beautiful places.  We camp in secret camp spots.  We drik beers.  We eat wieners.  We discus deep thoughts like FUPA CHEESE.  We pretty much just fuck off for a weekend.  It's rad.  If you are one of the chosen few, you know.  If not, I wouldn't expect you to really get it.  These photos don't tell the story, but they give a little taste of what it's about.

Things are looking up. by Brian Tucker

Things are falling into place.  I have been working my ass off and I am starting to see some rewards and I am feeling good.  Discipline and patients have been key.  Since things are looking up, here is a picture of Harley looking up.

Hey fuckers. This is what's up. by Brian Tucker

Hardly anyone seems to pass through here, so I guess I'll just use this like a note book and speak free.  I am 31 years old and I seem to spend the vast majority of my time trying to manage stress.  Boohoo. I know, everyone has stress.  But this is all about me right now.  Seriously though, is this kind of stress really the same kind that everyone else has?  I feel like I spend all of my awake hours working my ass off in an attempt to distract myself from the panic attack that is always hiding just around the corner.  If I can stay occupied and productive, things are ok.  Then when i finally slow down, my thoughts turn inward and I start to feel short of breath.  My thoughts seem to bounce around faster than I can keep up with.  Most of them are rooted in Self Worth, Accomplishments, Confidence, and comparing myself to my Father.  I look back on my younger self and I see a young man who walked around like he fucking owned the place no matter what was going on.  Proud, strong and confident.  The world was mine.  Fast forward to now.  What happened to me.  I am piss poor with managing any of my own personal bull shit.  I work work work to distract from all my personal projects and emotions.  I should be............ Or, I could be working on...........  And I should really be pouring my heart, soul and energy into......................  I could really be good at....................................................................

Anyways, I just want to work hard and feel proud of who I am.  I need to drop all of this doubt and keep my chin up.

This is an old picture, but it seems to capture how I am feeling.

Pallet garden. by Brian Tucker

This is the new addition to our little back yard.  Over the past few years, my wife has discovered a love of gardening.  And it turns out I love to make stuff.  We make a good team.

Water Werks On The Bay - 2014

Today my lovely wife and I attended Water Werks on The Bay.  I have a small collection of shots from the event posted on my photo page.  Of those shots, this is my favorite, so I am also sharing it here in the blog.

Six Gold Skulls by Brian Tucker

While flipping through one of my many old sketch books, I found this drawing of a skull.  After a little re-working and goofing around in the computer, I ended up with a limited edition of screen prints.  I really like how they turned out.  I also like that when I did this quick drawing a few years ago, I had no thoughts of it becoming anything beyond another page in a sketch book.

And here is the final product.

Pistons & Pearls by Brian Tucker

Pistons & Pearls is a new barber/salon here in monterey.  They are good people who take pride in their work and run a shop that has a great vibe.  If you are in the area, check them out.  I recently finished a commission project for them.  Custom printed "beverage" koozies. I look forward to doing more projects for them in the future!

Just finished these up. by Brian Tucker

I just finished a new run of prints.  I am really excited about how these came out.  They are available over in my BUY ART store if you want one.  There are ten of them and when they are gone, they are gone.

Old VR by Brian Tucker

This was the third VW I owned, but it was the one that really got me hooked on the VW world.  This was the first one that I really got elbows deep in.  It had plenty of problems and it was for the best that it was totaled out, but it was a great car that taught me a lot and took me on some great adventures.

Finally Printing!

As some of you may or may not know; I have a degree in printmaking. Unfortunately, I have not had access to print equipment since I graduated. UNTIL NOW! I am finally up and running with my own screen printing equipment and studio space. What a great feeling it is to finally have the ball rolling. I am so grateful to my beautiful wife, Lisa, my loving family and my supportive friends.
